Congratulations to Gert, once again dressing another international celebrity! Kelly Rowland stepped onto the red carpet in a black beaded LBD by Gert Johan Coetzee at the Ms Foundation for Woman 40th Anniversary Celebration. I am not a fan of the shoes she paired it with or her hairdo but the dress is bangin’. Gert must be so chuffed right now.
Bongiwe Walaza is back in the fashion game, she showcased a collection at Mercedes-Benz fashion week Africa. She is still working with her signature shweshwe material and also trying something new with some colourful prints.

If you haven’t heard of Spree (spree.co.za) by now well…the rock you’re living under must be massive. Spree is the online store that sells local designer clothes. Spree’s mission is to ensure that South African designer’s clothing is accessible to all women in South Africa. They have started a new initiative called Designer Spotlight which focuses on local designers on a more personal as well as business level. Part of this initiative includes Spree Conversations with designers and one of them being Anisa Mpungwe from Loin Cloth and Ashes. I love her clothes and I have blogged about them here and here. You can watch the conversation they had with her here, where Anisa shares what inspires her different collections, her back ground, spanx and the future of her clothing brand LCA.
Below are some clothes from LCA that are currently available at Spree.co.za
1. Drop waist shift dress, Loin Cloth and Ashes, R1170

another one of my favourite collections from Mercedes-Benz fashion week in Cape Town was by Craig Port. It consisted largely of a monochrome palette with a dash of colour. Maxi skirts and dresses, sheer chiffon, geometric prints, crop tops and high-waisted skinnies are all things we can expect from his this Spring/Summer.
Mercedes-Benz fashion Week Cape Town went down last week and the designers showcased their Spring/Summer collections. Tart is a ready to wear clothing line by Cari Stephenson who is based in Cape Town. Her clothes are easy-to-wear and free-flowing. Her current collection consists of prints on high-waisted skirts, maxi dresses and crop tops. It also consisted of the cut out trend similar to the Herve Leger Resort Collection and her signature bright colour knee-length and maxi dresses.
