If you haven’t heard of Spree (spree.co.za) by now well…the rock you’re living under must be massive. Spree is the online store that sells local designer clothes. Spree’s mission is to ensure that South African designer’s clothing is accessible to all women in South Africa. They have started a new initiative called Designer Spotlight which focuses on local designers on a more personal as well as business level. Part of this initiative includes Spree Conversations with designers and one of them being Anisa Mpungwe from Loin Cloth and Ashes. I love her clothes and I have blogged about them here and here. You can watch the conversation they had with her here, where Anisa shares what inspires her different collections, her back ground, spanx and the future of her clothing brand LCA.

Below are some clothes from LCA that are currently available at Spree.co.za

1. Drop waist shift dress, Loin Cloth and Ashes, R1170

2. Pencil dress with bow, Loin Cloth and Ashes, R1480

LCA at MBFWA12

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week took place a few weeks ago and one of my favourite designers Anisa Mpungwe showcased her Loin Cloth and Ashes collection. She collaborated with Anele Mdoda who is the face of the brand for this specific collection. Her signature prints were part of the collection as well as some summer white. I am so biased to this brand, I love LCA.

Anisa finally opened her store in July this year and if you want to purchase or check out her awesome clothing items, it is at the Maboneng Precinct at Arts on Main. You can also Like her Facebook page, Loin Cloth and Ashes by Anisa Mpungwe and you can follow LCA on twitter @LoinClothAshes.

SAMA18 fashion

SAMA 18 took place on Monday the 30th of April and was flighted live on SABC 1 from Sun City. At 18:30 a new show was launched presented by Bonang Matheba and Zizo Beda, the show was called Lights, Camera, Fashion and I was expecting it to be a red carpet style show similar to the E! channel one hosted by Ryan Seacrest. I would like to think that was the idea until the Department of Arts & Culture hijacked it as a platform to promote all their projects. The show was only an hour and the Department’s inserts ate up majority of the time but we did get to see quite a few of the celebrities arrive on the yellow carpet.

Best Dressed:

Bonang Matheba – when it comes to style your girl B never puts a foot wrong. She was dressed by Gert-Johan Coetzee

Minnie Dlamini – very risqué outfit & she had the body for it, loved her confidence and attitude, she rocked it. Minnie was dressed by Asanda Dyibi.

Pabi Moloi – so demure,  so sophisticated, so pretty, we love Pabi!

Poppy Ntshongwana – loved the red number by loin cloth and ashes (remember I blogged about them here .)

PS – we need better photography at these functions tjerrr!
