rihanna covers glamour mag

My favourite good girl gone bad is on the cover of Glamour Magazine in the US, actually I don’t know if I really like Rihanna right now after she her mean-spirited twar with Teyana Taylor two weeks ago, simply because she started it. Anyways Rihanna poses on the cover in her jerry curl and she talks about her fashion inspiration and why Nicole Richie pisses her off.

On her new show Styled to Rock:

“I felt like there were all these talented people in New York who had a very keen eye for style and design, but I couldn’t find them [to work with]. I get excited by discovering new designers. I’m obsessed with being first with everything in fashion.”

On her fashion inspo:

My love for fashion—let me say, my admiration for fashion—started with my mom. I used to watch her get dressed. She was around my age right now, and she was so fly. So fly. I remember not even knowing how to do that because I was such a tomboy.”

On who’s on her best dressed list:

“Oh my God, are you kidding me? Nicole Richie. She just pisses me off, she’s so good. But you know who is the best who ever did it? Princess Diana. She was like—she killed it. Every look was right. She was gangsta with her clothes. She had these crazy hats. She got oversize jackets. I loved everything she wore.”

The difference between Robyn and Rihanna:

When people call me Robyn, my head just flies around because I feel like that person knows me. But Rihanna, that tends to be people’s own [creation]. Robyn is who I am. Rihanna—that’s an idea of who I am.”

To all those going to the Rihanna concert this weekend, have fun!

kerry washington covers flare & glamour magazine

Kerry Washington is a girl in demand, she is on the cover of two magazines, Glamour Magazine and Flare Magazine. She must be thanking her lucky stars for the Scandal! role because it has opened so many doors for her. In Glamour magazine she briefly touches on her marriage and shares how she likes to keep her private life private because that’s what works for her.

2013 Glamour Woman of the Year Awards

I went to the 2013 Glamour Magazine Woman of the Year awards last Thursday and I had such a great time. Revlon SA had setup a makeover station and the ladies were getting mani’s and more, they also showcased their new advert featuring Bonang.

The best thing was that I was able to take pics of what everyone was wearing myself to share with you and everyone was really nice and willing to take pictures. The dress code was GLAMorous and the celebs delivered, check it out.

Proverb – such a nice guy.

Pnina, the editor of Glamour Magazine SA

Glamour Magazine honoured the following women:

The song bird: Pretty Yende

The funny girl: Anne Hirsch

The pop star: Toya Delazy. She apparently has been nominated for a European MTV Award, wow!

The media diva: Liesel van der Westhuizen

The uplifter: Nicola Jackmen

The stylista: Felicity Spies

The campaigner: Zanele Muholi (she couldn’t make it and her brother accepted her award)

The reader’s choice: Minnie Dlamini. Minnie had a speech prepared in which she thanked her mom who was also at the event, her dad and brothers who couldn’t make it as well as her baby, Itumeleng Khune who was also at the event to support Minnie. Minnie sang Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” hinting at Itu to do the right thing, lol! So if you were still wondering what is going on there, Minnie and Itu are together and happy.

samsung galaxy camera

For our third Glamour Magazine & Orange challenge, Orange sent us a gadget to review and I received the Samsung Galaxy Camera. I don’t like reading manuals for gadgets because I love the element of surprise and excitement whenever I discover a new feature. So when I received the Samsung Galaxy camera I fiddled with it for about an hour, discovering its wonderful features. This camera is the future of digital cameras and is different from the rest for so many reasons; here are a few of my favourites:

samsung galaxy camera

The camera operates mostly like a phone, it has a touch screen and you can get a SIM card, download apps (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc.), listen to music, watch YouTube videos etc. You can do these things if you are connected to Wi-Fi and it gives you 3G/4G functionality. It really is more than just a camera, it’s a digital experience.

Most standard camera have the black and white & sepia filters whilst the Samsung Galaxy camera has multiple filters much like the ones on Instagram. The camera allows you to select the filter you want before taking the picture. I took pictures of my Glamour magazines using the different filters below.

Picture Frames

I love this feature because sometimes you want to have more than one picture in a frame and create pretty collages. I created one below and added a heart and a crown on Beyoncé’s Glamour cover because she is King Bey! 🙂

Easy share

If you are in an area with Wi-Fi you can share your pictures directly onto Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so many other apps. No more waiting to download them onto your computer and then sharing them with friends.

Advanced Settings

If you love camera’s like I do and want to use advanced settings like Manual, Aperture and Shutter speed versus being on the automatic settings all the time, you can on this camera. It also has a pop up flash so you can use it as and when necessary so it doesn’t wash out all of your pictures.

I want one. It’s easy to use and it’s convenient.

It costs R4889.10 at the Orange store and you can click on the link to find out more details.
